Sneaky Sound System "16"

Unfamiliar with Aussie dance/ pop act Sneaky Sound System? Well that's a pity cause tunes like "Pictures" and "UFO" were definitely ace. You most likely know frontwoman Connie Mitchell's voice at least, since it provided those key haunting ad-libs on Kanye West's stunning exposition "Can't Tell Me Nothing" (among a few other appearances on last year's Graduation). Whether aware of SSS or not, it's time to get in their cool groove because their new album 2 is set to drop this month. 2 has already pulled out a dance floor winner with first single "Kansas City", but if the band are looking for assistance in picking out a follow-up track, it's probably best to go for "16", an instantly likable club record with it's breezy post-disco/ new wave pulse and Mitchell's double dose of mega-sized hooks.

It's been a month since her lover broke things off with her, and Connie's still reeling from the heartache. "Don't know if it was your intention/ But I'm lost and feeling confused," she sings, "Don't know how to do without you". Even as the weeks stretch into months, she hasn't moved on, her mind stuck trying to imagine what her missing lover could be up to.

It's a dismal situation to be in, but Sneaky never really give you a chance to mourn along with her. The whirly production extravaganza they cook up is far too distracting to pay attention to the depression behind it's 4/4 pounding while you can't help but be whisked away to some dancefloor fantasy land every time Connie's magnetic vocal hits the ears.

All you could ever ask for from a dynamite boogie-pop ditty, "16" provides ample proof why Sneaky Sound System deserve to be in the cross-hairs of your music radar.
