While they are all always interesting to listen to at least once, BBC Live Lounge covers can be hit or miss; this one, featuring those beloved Black Kids taking on Estelle's recent reggae-flavored single "No Substitute Love" definitely ranks in the "miss" column.
Before you hit play, be forewarned that your ears are about to be abused. Why? Mainly because of BK lead singer Reggie Youngblood's choked mewl; his voice is an acquired taste anyway, but in this live context you just want to shoot him to put him out of his misery (why they didn't just allow one of the female members to handle the song is beyond me). It's sad that Reggie ends up such a huge distraction though, because musically, the remake serves a decent (if cheap sounding) new wave-ish re-interpretation.
