In what feels like the twentieth single to be birthed from Rihanna's Good Girl Gone Bad, the uptempo "Disturbia" continues the singer's ridiculous consistency with sticky pop goodness, even if it's admittedly not up to par with the now-classic tunes she's released in the past.
All electro-pop stomp, robo-diva vocal and hooky "bum bum be-dum" delirium, "Disturbia" puts Rihanna firmly back in dance territory, a more fitting sound to her icy delivery than the schmaltzy R&B balladry she can sometimes feel lost in. But while the tune is definitely catchy (without needing any big '80's sample reference to hook you in with, as with previous singles), it also feels very inconsequential, mostly due to a sketchy "Thriller"-esque lyrical theme ("Your mind is in disturbia/ It's like the darkness is the light/ Disturbia/ Am I scaring you tonight?") that begs for Ne-Yo's refined songwriting pen.

As being from the caribbean myself, im glad to see Rihanna coming from Barbados and making it so far but plaese Rihanna stop selling your body in your videos just to be accepted, why cant you be like Alicia keys who fight the odds of being female artist in this tough business. Both Alicia and Rihanna are good. Rihanna sings R&B, hip hop, pop, rock, and electro-pop... what does Alicia Keys sing??? just R&B. She doesn't expand her music career like Rihanna. Alicia is good at what she does and Rihanna is good at what she does. They both can't be compared because they both are in two different categories... I prefer Rihanna and "Disturbia" is great. Actually, all of her songs are great. She's a great artist and she will make history... Oh yeah, she already did!
