Keyshia Cole vs. dj.dstar "Shoulda Let You Go (Bassline Remix)"

It was hard to get behind the original version of "Shoulda Let You Go" due to it being a blatant knock-off of Mary J Blige's "Enough Cryin'", but the irresistible dance makeover applied by Buffalo's dj.dstar warrants a second listen to the "Let It Go" follow-up, upgrading the record from an underwhelming disappointment to a surefire house banger.

From the opening thrills of it's shifty synth work to the whirly pulse pounder it eventually evolves into, this continually exciting revamp helps the tale of romance regret reach an arresting peak that was nowhere to be found before. With Keyshia's rough-and-tough soul warbling given the sped-up treatment, her self-smacking tirade grasps a new level of emotional devastation, dj.star's dizzying array of edge-of-your-seat sonics fueling an epic breakdown that Cole definitely won't be able to recover from as easily.
