Who is Asia Cruise? It'll be a few weeks before we find out her real identity, but the pop-R&B singer at the centerpiece of the clever marketing ploy (many already have her pegged as Asia Nitollano, winner of that guilty pleasure Pussycat Doll reality show of last year) is already making in-roads at radio with her cutesy, boyfriend-bashing debut single, "Selfish".

Backing her teeny-tiny chirp with some strong attitude, Asia calls out her man on his ill ways. "Let's start by correctin' ya tone/ Lower ya finger/ Don't be comin' at me with condescending demeanor," she serves, refusing to be the girl he treats as a non-existent entity anymore. Tired of his egocentric mannerisms ("How is it that you can look at us and only see you?/...You can live a lie and never be true?"), Cruise alerts to him that it's bag-packing time; she's off to find a man who'll give her the equality she deserves.

While the lyrics hold some bite, the production paints a less angry frame, coasting along like some kiddie daydream with twinkly piano notes and sugary synthesizers that hit the ear like a mouth-watering Now & Later to the throat.

Odds are, when the cloak over Asia is finally snatched away, it won't be the noteworthy moment her handlers are prepping it up to be (unless she's really La Toya Jackson or something), but at least Cruise can say she didn't have to rely on her likely supermodel looks to nab her her first hit single.
