Tired of scaring away much of the male population with her desperate search for a baby daddy on the maybe too-honest single "I Wanna Have Your Babies", Bedingfield is intent on keeping her latest beau from running off on the equally obsessive "Not Givin' Up".
In the midst of what feels like their hundredth argument, Bedingfield racks her brain trying to figure out how she can make them the happy couple she so desires them to be over a drum-n-bass-riddled R&B-pop beat bubbling with spacey energy. Fearing he's causing havoc just to escape her ("It seems all the fuss you're making/ Is a sign that you're not quite sure"), Daniel's increasingly loopy lil' sis is defiant that she can convince him that with her is where he's destined to be and she'll fight to the ends of the universe it seems to help him reach that conclusion. As she rapidly sings on the hook: "I still believe in our love right now/ And it's gonna work out somehow/ You and me we got common ground/ I'm not giving up no", you can't help but feel the same kind of discomfort he must.
Such honesty in her writing as always made Bedingfield's soul-tinged pop appealing and this is no exception, despite selling such a unflattering depiction of her self. Still home girl is obviously trippin' as she nears her thirties, anxious to finally settle down with Mr. Right by any means necessary. Maybe it would be best if she stopped trying to trap any man she meets into to playing her insta-husband and instead went into therapy. Then again, she would probably fall deeply in love with her counselor.
